Rusty Wallace, who currently leads the NASCAR Winston Cup point standings, has won the first-quarter balloting for Driver of the Year. Fifteen motorsports journalists gave him nine first place votes. His total of 97 points more than doubled those of the second-place drivers, NHRA’s Cory McClenathan and IRL’s Tony Stewart, both with 47 points.
