Joe Nemechek’s #42 BellSouth SABCO entry lost an engine and put fluid down on the track. Kevin Lepage was unable to avoid the moisture and crashed the #91 LJ Racing First Union Chevy damaging it beyond repair.
Ironically Lepage is sporting First Union decals because a second Team SABCO car — the #46 Monte Carlo driven by Morgan Shepherd — failed to make the field for tomorrow’s Coca-Cola 600. As a result of the accident, Team SABCO owner Felix Sabates has given Kevin Lepage and the LJ Racing Team a Chevy from his stable to use during the Coca Cola 600. Bill Elliott also ran through the fluid and almost looped the #94 McDonald’s Ford.
