Jimmy Kite to compete in stock car races

Automotive Performance Group(AGP), a full-service owner and operator of high performance automotive businesses, announced today that the company’s rising star driver Jimmy Kite, 22, will focus on stock car racing for the remainder of the 1998 racing season. Current APG plans call for Kite to compete in approximately 10 stock car races in 1998. To gain experience in stock car competition, Kite’s next race will be the ARCA Michigan 200 on 6-13-98. Kite will race a combination of ARCA and NASCAR races in 1998, with a maximum of four appearances in Winston Cup competition to preserve his eligibility for the 1999 Rookie of the Year award. Kite’s first scheduled entry for a Winston Cup race will be the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis on Aug. 1. APG operates a variety of high performance automotive businesses including Royal Purple Motor Oil. Andy Evans of Team Scandia is the Chairman and President of APG and also is part owner of the #11 Paychex Ford driver and part owned by Cup driver Brett Bodine.
