NASCAR’s Mike Helton says if Chrysler does come to Winston Cup racing it almost certainly won’t be in 1999, and Helton said that NASCAR’s talks with Chrysler so far have been very preliminary. Sources close to the situation indicate that NASCAR may be more interested in Chrysler coming into NASCAR than Chrysler is interested. Chrysler does field trucks for NASCAR’s Truck tour, but has steadfastly refused to consider a Winston Cup effort.
