From Mike Mulhern’s column on the JournalNow site: Officials at Hendrick Motorsports had little comment yesterday on the reports that Ricky Craven might soon be replaced as driver of Tony Furr’s Chevy. “Ricky is our driver, and those are just rumors,” Hendrick’s Dan Lohwasser said. Wally Dallenbach and Randy Lajoie both ran the car during Craven’s recovery this summer.(JournalNow) (08-10-1998) and….If Craven does lose the ride with Hendrick, he is already under consideration for another top ride . . . with Ford’s Jack Roush, according to sources close to the situation. Geoff Smith, the head of Roush Racing, insists that there are no plans to try to sign him. Craven is under contract through November, apparently precluding any official negotiations.
