UPDATE: Caterpillar appears even closer to a deal with the #22 Bill Davis Pontiac team.(Times-Dispatch)(9-13-98) — Caterpillar is high on the list of potential sponsors for the Bill Davis/Ward Burton team, although at least two others are ready to bite, sources say (one of which may be K mart). Caterpillar at present is allied with the troubled Buz McCall team, and McCall says he has a contract through 1999. McCall says he will be in business in NASCAR next year.(SpeedNet)(9-14-98)
