The partnership between Geoff Bodine and Jim Mattei as car owners came to an end this week after Jim Mattei bought out Geoff Bodine’s interest in the team. The deal closes the chapter in Geoff Bodine’s life as the car owner of the #7 Ford. Bodine, who’s shown some good runs the last few weeks, is rumored to be in play for another ride in 1999. The sale of the team could make it easier for either car owner – Mattei or driver – Bodine to make a decision if there is going to be a change in driver for the #7 Ford next year.
