As the 1999 BGN season grows closer and closer, teams have been racing the track, clock, weather and time – everything but each other. Along with several BGN teams, Skip Smith, driver of the #67 Smith Brothers Motorsports Chevy, recently tested at Talladega on Thursday, January 21, in preparation for the season. Smith, a native from Williamsport, Pa., and retired Pennsylvania State Police Officer, is scheduled to run eleven BGN events, beginning with the February 13 NAPA Auto Parts 300 at Daytona. Smith turned in a fast lap of 189.249mph, unofficially one of the fastest times recorded of all Busch Series teams present during the private test. Smith Brothers Motorsports will be supported financially for the eleven designated events by C&E Containers, Inc. (Jersey Shore, Pa.), a manufacturer of corrugated and specialty shipping containers, and owned by team owner Mike Smith(Smith Brothers Motorsports PR)(1-27-1999)
