Three drivers attempting to make both the Cup race and the Winston West race completed part one of their mission by qualifying for the Winston West race atCalifornia. #15-Kenny Schrader qualified 2nd, #58-Ricky Craven(5th) and #1-Butch Gilliland(7th). Also CTS driver Mike Wallace, qualified 9th in the #26 Ford(results many sources)
