The Team Marines Racing/Kerry Earnhardt and Ed Whitaker Racing team will attempt to make their racing debut at Darlington, SC in the Dura Lube 200 BGN event. Rick Rathbun, a former United States Marine and President of Team Marines Racing, Inc., Rathbun is the financial backer of the new Kerry Earnhardt/Ed Whitaker Racing combination, and he has committed support for four more races with the duo starting with Darlington. An announcement on the other three races to be entered is expected shortly. Bruce Saunders will again serve as crew chief for the Team Marines Racing/Earnhardt/Whitaker Racing effort. One change to the Team Marines Racing program at Darlington will be the Chevrolet Monte Carlo’s number that will change to #7 from the #76 it wore at Bristol. ?????NASCAR has informed us of a potential conflict with its long-standing sponsorship program with Unocal 76, so we’ll change to plain #7 at least for the remaining races this season,????
