Petty Paint: In celebration of the start of pro football’s 1999 season, PLAYERS INC and Petty Enterprises will showcase special NFL player paint schemes on John Andretti’s #43 STP Pontiac and Kyle Petty’s #44 Hot Wheels Pontiac during the Exide NASCAR Select Batteries 400 to be held on September 11, 1999, at Richmond International Raceway. Some of the greatest NFL stars of all time will visit the Richmond facility to root the offensive (“Playmakers”) and defensive (“Gamebreakers”) teams to victory. Linebackers Dick Butkus (Hall of Fame, Chicago), Willie Lanier (Hall of Fame, Kansas City) and defensive end L.C. Greenwood (Pittsburgh) will help out in the Petty pit. In the Andretti pit will be running back Tony Dorsett (Hall of Fame, Dallas) and wide receiver Charley Taylor (Hall of Fame, Washington), along with running back Craig “Ironhead” Heyward (Indianapolis). In addition to the Petty’s “Gamebreakers” scheme and Andretti’s “Playmakers” scheme, Petty and Andretti will wear custom drivers suits and helmets which represent a distinct NFL player flavor. To further celebrate the season kickoff and this special event, PLAYERS INC has developed a unique PLAYERS INC/Team Petty Charity Challenge in which favorite charities of Petty and Andretti will be the benefactors of PLAYERS INC contributions, based on Andretti’s and Petty’s finishing order in the Richmond race. PLAYERS INC will donate $500,000 to charities nominated by Petty and Andretti if they finish first and second in the Richmond race ($400,000 to 1st place, $100,000 to 2nd place). If John and Kyle do not finish first and second, but one wins the race, his charity will receive $100,000. If neither of the drivers win the racing event, the highest finishing driver’s charity will receive $10,000. Andretti has established the Riley’s Children’s Hospital and Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis as his charity and Petty has named Samaritan’s Purse as his charity( Williams Co PR )
