The latest news on Ray Evernham, according to some of his closest friends, is that he won’t be taking any Chrysler deal and that he definitely won’t be taking a Cal Wells’ Ford deal. But Evernham still isn’t talking, and some say that the legal situation over Evernham’s contract is keeping all the principals quiet. Jeff Gordon indicates that his new crew chief probably will be promoted from within the team. Brian Whitsell is expected to make the pit-road calls today. What Evernham will do is not clear.
