here is the basic rundown of what happened this past week with Hendrick Motorsports and #24 crew chief Ray Evernham(most of this has been reported some not) – on Monday, Ray Evernham asked for a meeting with Rick and John Hendrick. Supposedly he then proceeded to ask Rick to choose between he and his brother John. Supposedly Rick asked Jeff Gordon what to do and Gordon chose John Hendrick. In turn, Rick Hendrick chose his brother and acted upon Gordon’s request. At that point Evernham tore his 2006 contract up and threw it in the air and followed by cleaning his office on Tuesday. Also hearing that Gordon is selling the Pepsi team as to disassociate himself from Evernham and buying into the Hendrick Motorsports operation. As we pretty much know, Brian Whitesell has been named crew chief (not to the press yet)
