Ernie Irvan was inducted into the Lowe’s Motor Speedway Court of Legends Wednesday afternoon, becoming the 14th inductee. Prior to retiring in September, Irvan competed in 20 NASCAR Winston Cup Series races at LMS, posting one of the most dominating victories in track history while driving for Robert Yates in 1993. Irvan won 15 races during his storied NASCAR Winston Cup career. Irvan autographed a section of cement in the walk while also setting his handprints and throttle foot in cement. Ironically, Irvan wore the same shoe he was wearing when he crashed at Michigan Speedway in August, effectively ending his career. Prior to his break into NASCAR Winston Cup Series racing, Irvan made his living welding seats at LMS( NOL )
