Mark Martin bettered the BGN track record in unofficial testing at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Martin turned a lap of 36.38 seconds – 148.433mph – in the Winn-Dixie Ford. Casey Atwood holds the official record on the 1.5-mile oval, 36.422 seconds – 148.262mph – set in qualifying for last year’s event. Also testing Busch Series cars were #6-Barry Bodine(147.541mph), Mike Garvey and Jeff Fuller. ?????My father (Winston Cup Series regular Geoffrey Bodine) is helping me out with the setups, plus giving me moral support,???? said Barry Bodine, who turned a lap of 147.541 mph. ?????Dad’s here to watch his son play, just like a high school football game, and we’re both having a lot of fun.????
