Irvan and his wife, Kim, will circle the track for a farewell lap in a specially designed M&M’s “Millennium” Pontiac. Irvan’s career ended after he wrecked during a practice session Aug. 20. Irvan, 40, who had to be cut out of his car by safety workers, was diagnosed later with a bruised lung and a concussion. Because of his health problems, Irvan said it was undecided whether he or his wife will drive the car for Sunday’s farewell lap( Palm Beach Post ) BUT I got an M&M’s Press Release that says: Retired “M&M’s” Racing Team driver Ernie Irvan will make his final lap around a Winston Cup race track on Sunday, November 21, prior to the start of this weekend’s event at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
