Ray Evernham was a featured guest on Speedvision’s Inside Winston Cup on Monday night(11-29), discussing his progress with the new Dodge entries for the 2001 season. Evernham stated that he hoped to have cars ready for on track testing by May 1st, and that they would use the engine currently used in the Craftsman Truck Series for preliminary testing. A new motor is being developed to compete with the Ford and Chevy engines in the Winston Cup Series but is not expected to be completed until July or August. Dodge will sponsor Evernham’s race team, and it will carry #19 on the door panels.
