Markham at Richmond: Curtis Markham attempted to qualify at Richmond in the #29 Hot Rod Magazine Pontiac. Markham did not make the field but was the highest qualifying driver out of the Joe Gibbs Racing stable. Both #4-Jeff Purvis and #18-Jason Leffler had to take provisionals to make the field. Markham was in a backup car after he wrecked the primary car on Thursday during practice when an oil line came off and sprayed oil on the tires putting him in the wall(5-11-2000)
