Ernie Irvan served as the grand marshal for the race. Irvan retired last fall after being injured in a crash at Michigan. He says he has no plans to return to racing as a driver but is looking at doing everything he can to put a team together, but not me as a driver. Irvan leased his team, equipment, shop and personnel to Robby Gordon this year. Gordon has an option to continue the lease through next season(Roanoke Times)(6-26-2000)
