#1-Steve Park wins his first Winston Cup race by dominating the Global Crossing @ The Glen and holding off #6-Mark Martin and breaking Jeff Gordon’s road course streak at six. Park wins in his 77th Winston Cup start. Not sure, but I think it is the first win by a Pennzoil Sponsored car(as a primary sponsor). Also, it was the first Winston Cup win by a car #1 since David Pearson did it in 1980 at Darlington (see my Winners by Car# page). #1 Crew Chief Paul Andrews has led three drivers to their first Cup wins: Alan Kulwicki in 1988, Jeremy Mayfield in 1998 and now Steve Park. There have now been 13 winners in 2000, the most since there were 14 in 1991. There have now been three first time winners in 2000, #8-Earnhardt Jr, #17-Kenseth and now #1-Park, the most since 1994. Also Park came from the furthest starting spot(18th) ever at The Glen to win the race. #13-Robby Gordon came up from starting 42nd to finish 4th, a move of 38 spots. For the results of the race, see NOL or Racin’ Network(8-13-2000)
