New BGN Team: Great Clips today announced it will team with driver Christian Elder and Akins Motorsports to enter a car(#38 Ford) in the 2001 BGN. Great Clips, which currently serves as Elder’s sponsor in the ARCA series, is excited for the challenge of competing in one of America’s elite racing circuits. The 31-year-old Elder, who currently races in the ARCA, Goody’s Dash and NASCAR Winston West Series, kicks off his Busch Series career at the Daytona on February 17th. Among his career highlights are victories in the 1999 Daytona Discount Auto 200 and the 1998 Motorola Cup. Great Clips began its motorsports program in 1998, sponsoring Elder in the ARCA series. Elder and Great Clips continue their partnership, teaming with Akins Motorsports in the 2001 NASCAR Busch Series, where Elder will compete in 15 of the series’ 34 events. Great Clips will participate in another partial Busch Series season in 2002, while gearing up for the 2003 circuit, when it will run a full season.
