BGN regular (#81 TracFone/WCW Chevy) Blaise Alexander will make his NASCAR Winston Cup debut in the Oct. 15 Winston 500 at Talladega. The Montoursville, Pa.-native will pilot the #91 Ericsson Chevy fielded by LJ Racing/Team SABCO in the final restrictor-plate event on the 2000 Winston Cup schedule. Alexander is not the only newcomer in the Winston Cup garage from the Team SABCO camp. While the Winston 500 marks the first Cup appearance for Ericsson and BellSouth Mobility, neither company is a stranger to the NASCAR Busch Series nor Team SABCO. BellSouth Mobility and Ericsson currently are featured as the primary and associate sponsors, respectively, on the #01 Team SABCO Busch Series entry. Ericsson is extending that relationship via its primary sponsorship on the #91 Chevrolet in this weekend’s 500-mile event with BellSouth Mobility as the associate sponsor. Alexander has set his goals for Sunday’s race one step-at-a-time. Alexander already has logged several laps on the 2.66-mile superspeedway. He placed his #81 Chevy in the 20th starting spot in the April Touchstone Energy 300 Busch Series event and ran in the top 10 most of the day until he became involved in an accident. Ben Holm, Alexander’s Busch Series crew chief, will call the shots for the Ericsson Chevrolet, while his crew turns the wrenches and pits the car during Sunday’s event(SABCO PR)(10-10-2000)
