Jeremy Mayfield, driver of the #12 Fords, has been named the third-quarter winner of the National Motorsports Press Association’s Pocono Spirit Award. The award goes to the individual in NASCAR who perseveres and attains high accomplishment in the face of adversity, displays sportsmanship and contributes to motorsports. Mayfield was honored for his determination to succeed in a season that has included a series of dramatic ups and downs, including a penalty against his team after an April race at Talladega and an injuries from a crash at Indianapolis that kept Mayfield out of the car for the next race.
