Sad News: not NASCAR but…former CART onwer Carl Hogan died Sunday in New Hampshire, he was 71. Hogan’s tenure as a team owner in CART started in 1992 with driver/part owner Bobby Rahal winning the CART championship. In 1996, Hogan entered a partnership with Roger Penske, with Emerson Fittipaldi as driver. Hogan formed his own team in 1997 with Dario Franchitti as driver. Hogan’s driver in 1999, his final season as an owner, was Helio Castro-Neves. Hogan, who spent millions of dollars financing his teams, got out of racing after the 1999 season and retired to New Hampshire(KC Star/AP)(1-19-2001)
