On Lap 104, Marty Houston slid across the track and was hit by Tim Sauter. As Sauter came to a stop, he was slammed by Elton Sawyer. Kevin Grubb also slid into the accident. Sauter was knocked unconscious and cracked his helmet. Sawyer said his restraint system kept him from sustaining injuries in what he labeled one of the hardest hits of his career(Richmond Times Dispatch)(3-11-2001)
