Irvan Concentrating on Land Development and New House: in part for this weeks Winston Cup Scene – Ernie Irvan, who retired from NASCAR Winston Cup racing in September 1999 and then had his house destroyed by fire in March 2000, has turned his attentions to land development and rebuilding his family’s home. Irvan was in the Winston Cup garage at Lowe’s Motor Speedway the weekend of The Winston, visiting with friends and former business associates. Irvan, wife Kim and their two children are living in a mobile home located on their property while they rebuild their house. The two-story house, which they began building in late November, is expected to be completed in time for Christmas. Irvan’s profession now centers on developing about 85 acres that he owns near Speedway Boulevard, which leads to Lowe’s Motor Speedway and the Concord Mills outlet mall(Winston Cup Scene – need subscription)(5-24-2001)
