Rudd Ends Winless Streak: #28-Ricky Rudd wins the Pocono 500, ending a streak of 88 races without a Winston Cup win. #24-Jeff Gordon was the runner up. Rudd’s last win was at Martinsville in Sept 1998. So Rudd is in the 2002 The Winston (or whatever it’ll be called). Gordon slightly increased his points lead over #88-Dale Jarrett (who came in 3rd) to 36 points. Rudd is the 7th pole winner to win in 47 Pocono races. It was the first win for the #28 Texaco team since Ernie Irvan won at Michigan in June 1997(134 races ago).
