Another AJ: The next A.J. Foyt is rushing into the future of open-wheel auto racing. A.J. Foyt IV, grandson of the four-time Indianapolis 500 champion of the same name, is scheduled to make his USAC Coors Light Silver Bullet Series dirt track debut Aug. 18 at Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield. The younger Foyt already is involved in the Indy Racing Northern Light Series. He will change the left-front tire on Donnie Beechler’s A.J. Foyt Racing Dallara/Oldsmobile during the Belterra Casino Indy 300 Aug. 12 at Kentucky Speedway. It will be the sixth-straight race that he has handled those duties. In the cockpit, younger Foyt won the Formula 2000 regional championship with nine poles and eight victories. Just a week ago, he won the karting Nationals in Iowa.
