Geoffrey Tests at Bristol:

Geoffrey Tests at Bristol: Geoffrey Bodine tested both the Phillips 66 Chevrolet BGN entry and the Winston Cup car(#09) at Bristol Motor Speedway on Monday. “The test went really well,” Bodine said. “We didn’t hit anything and both cars are running good. I’m really excited about this whole deal at Bristol.” The immediate concern for Bodine is qualifying. “Our qualifying run late today wasn’t quite as fast as we need to go, but that was just our first attempt,” Bodine said. “We’re going to try more qualifying runs Tuesday. Hopefully we can lower our time so we will comfortable when we came back for the race. We don’t have any points, so qualifying will be real important for us.” Geoffrey will drive a car owned by brother Brett in the Aug. 25 Sharpie 500 at BMS. The team will be sponsored by Smirnoff Ice. “Helping a major sponsor sign with Brett is the No. 1 priority,” Bodine said. “If we happen to end up with another major sponsor, then I will have a Winston Cup ride in the #09 car. We’re also trying to get a sponsorship deal for my son Barry and Brett’s nephew Josh (Richeson) for both of them to run in either Busch, trucks or whatever we can get together. That’s the order of things for us right now.” Geoffrey’s son Barry took a few laps around BMS Monday also(Bristol Herald Courier)(8-7-2001)
