New Crew Chief for the #15: DEI has hired Richard “Slugger” Labbe as the new crew chief for its #15 NAPA Chevys and driver Michael Waltrip. The position of crew chief has been vacant since Scott Eggleston’s departure from DEI in May. Steve Hmiel has served in the position on an interim basis. Waltrip and Labbe worked together previously while Waltrip drove for Ultra Motorsports. Labbe will take over the position this weekend at Richmond. Labbe also served as crew chief for the late Kenny Irwin at Robert Yates Racing(That’s Racin’)(9-4-2001)
