Hearing Long will be at Dover this weekend with Sadler and will work with the team in preparations for Martinsville as well(9-19-2001) UPDATE: With help from veteran crew chief Jim Long, Emporia’s Hermie Sadler qualified for his first race of the 2001 season. Sadler, who had failed to make the field in five previous attempts, turned the 32nd-fastest lap (152.104 mph). He credited Long, who recently left the No. 7 Ford, with helping lift the team after Sadler was 44th fastest in the morning practice. “We needed a person to trust to say, ‘This is what you need to do, and everything’s going to be fine.’ This was a big confidence booster for us,” said Sadler, who will test at Martinsville Speedway next week in preparation for the Oct. 14 race. “I don’t care what happens now. I feel like we won the race.” Tomorrow’s race will be the first Winston Cup event to feature the Sadler brothers.
