Skinner begins Therapy: Mike Skinner, the newly announced driver of the #4 Kodak Chevy for the 2002 Cup season, began an intensive therapy regimen this week. Skinner, who underwent surgery on his knee and ankle last Wednesday, is anxious for a speedy recovery. Says Skinner: “I completed my first physical therapy session on Monday. The doctor says it is going to take four months to heal and I am beginning to realize why. We primarily worked with muscle stretches. The therapist explained to me the importance of keeping the muscles mobile during this critical time. No weights were used in the therapy. Because of the surgery performed on my ankle, weight training will not be incorporated into the sessions for a few more weeks. I will attend the physical therapy session three times a week for about an hour each time. Then, I have exercises to complete at home. My goal is to be 100% and back in a race car by the middle of January. We would like to go to Abingdon [VA] sometime during the next few days. Angie [Skinner’s wife] and I are looking at buying a second home near the race shop. We want to be close to Morgan-McClure.(in part from a Morgan-McClure Motorsports PR)(10-11-2001)
