Not NASCAR but…. CART co-founder Roger Penske [and owner of the #2-Rusty Wallace and #02-Ryan Newman Cup teams] is leaving CART for the rival IRL. Penske plans to race in all IRL events next season, including the Indianapolis 500, Penske Racing president Tim Cindric said Thursday in a statement from company headquarters in Reading, PA. Drivers Gil de Ferran, who won the CART title the last two years and Helio Castroneves (winners of the 2001 Indy 500) will remain as Penske’s drivers(That’s Racin’/AP)(12-7-2001)
