New RCR shop: Richard Childress Racing has started construction on an 80,000-square foot state-of-the-art Winston Cup shop will be the new home for its three Winston Cup teams. The building will have paint and body shops, prep stations and truck bays for the #29, #30 and #31 teams of drivers Kevin Harvick, Jeff Green and Robby Gordon, respectively. The new structure will include office space for the Winston Cup crew chiefs and general manager, as well as the RCR engineering department. Samet Construction of Greensboro, N.C., is building the new shop. It will be a two-story, precast concrete construction, with an elevator and parking for 150. The new shop will be among 12 buildings that make up 330,000-square feet on the 34-acre RCR complex. The Winston Cup shop is expected to be completed by April 15, 2002.(That’s Racin’)(12-24-2001)
