Irwin Race: The Kenny Irwin Jr. Memorial Winternationals will be held February 19th thru 23rd at Orlando SpeedWorld in Bithlo, Florida. This is the first time in several years that full-sized midgets have run in Florida and the NAMARS sanctioned event has drawn a number of competitors including USAC Midget Champion Tracy Hines and 2001 Rookie of the Year Bobby East as well as several other USAC drivers. Jimmy McCune, the winningest driver in NAMARS, will also be in the field of the forty midgets expected to come. The last Winternationals that were held in Florida was won by Kenny Irwin Jr. and therefore this has become the Kenny Irwin Jr. Memorial Winternationals. Lap money sponsors will see part of that money go to the Kenny Irwin Jr. Memorial “Dare to Dream Camp” established in Irwin’s honor. Racing will start at 7:30 PM each night and on Wednesday night, there will be a “ladies only” midget feature. Also on the program will be FASCAR Mini-Stocks, Super Stocks, Dwarf Cars (Mod Lites), Legends Cars, and on the final three nights, the Classic Auto Racing Series cars. There will be FREE RV parking provided at the speedway and admission each night will be $20.00 adults, teens $10.00.(Florida Stock Car Racing)(2-18-2002)
