Bo-Dyn Sleds gets silver and bronze in Men’s 4 man : The United States bobsled teams are using Bo-Dyn sleds at the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, designed and heavily funded by NASCAR driver Geoffrey Bodine. After eight years of work and a lot of money, a Bo-Dyn sled helped bring home the gold. Bodine, from Chemung, N.Y., and his son, Barry Bodine, left the East Coast on Wednesday to attend events this weekend. The U.S. four-man USA-1 team of Todd Hays, Randy Jones, Bill Schuffenhauer and Orlando’s Garrett Hines did Bodine proud by winning the silver medal Saturday night, while USA-2 won the bronze with Brian Shimer, Mike Kohn, Doug Sharp and Dan Steele aboard. And on Tuesday, Jill Bakken and Vonetta Flowers stunned the field, winning the gold medal in the inaugural women’s bobsled competition and breaking a 46-year drought in the sport for the United States.(Daytona Beach News Journal)(2-24-2002)
