ARCA Driver Injured:

ARCA Driver Injured: Tina Gordon suffered a serious leg injury and underwent surgery at a Charlotte, NC, hospital Saturday after a crash in the ARCA/Remax Series EasyCare 100 at Lowe’ Motor Speedway. Gordon suffered a clean break of her left tibia and fibia, a broken bone on the side of her left foot, a broken left heel, a broken left big toe and a broken right little toe. It was Gordon’ first race with a new HANS device after previously using the Hutchens device, and Gary Gordon said he was very thankful his wife was wearing the safety device. “To be honest with you, I think it saved her life,” he Gordon said. “I was at the race where Steve Park got hurt last year and it was a lot like that. She took a harder lick than Steve Park did and she doesn’t even have a concussion.” Doctors were uncertain how long Gordon would be hospitalized following her surgery. In the race, Jeff Fultz passed ARCA points leader Frank Kimmel on Lap 62 and held on to post his first ARCA series victory.(Anniston Star), Fultz is a fabricator at Jasper Motorsports [#77] and it was only his second career ARCA start driving the #55 C&C Boilers Ford, powered by Penske/Jasper Engines. His wife Angela is the Office Manager at Jasper Motorsports.(5-19-2002) Update at the Anniston Star: Gordon’ injury list grows.(5-20-2002) (5-18-2002)
