Elder back at Kentucky:

Drs. Jerry Petty and E. Hunter Dyer of Carolina NeuroSurgery & Spine Associates have released Christian Elder [driver of the #38 Great Clips Ford] to race after reviewing films of a myelogram conducted on May 30th. Elder had been diagnosed with herniated cervical discs earlier in May and preliminary findings indicated surgery would be necessary to correct the condition. Then the doctors performed the myelogram, which consists of injecting dye into the spinal canal and then examining the area with an MRI scan, and have concluded that the surgery will not be necessary at this time. Elder raced at Kentucky Speedway last year finishing 24th. He has tested at the facility twice. Elder’s last race in the Great Clips Ford was at California Speedway, April 27th.(PR)(6-13-2002)
