M&M’s Color to be announced on the 19th UPDATE Purple is it: The new M&M’s color will be announced in New York City at 8:00pm/et on June 19th. Why is this important to NASCAR fans? Because M&M’s Pontiac driver Kenny Schrader will have a paint scheme done in the winning color at Bristol in August. The color was chosen by a Global Color Vote promotion held around the world. The choices were purple, pink or aqua (I went with pink). Schrader drove a special “Global Color Vote(tm)” paint scheme earlier this year that featured all the colors on the car. So Ken Schrader will drive a purple #36 M&M’s Pontiac at Bristol in August.(Chicago Tribune/AP)(6-19-2002) AND More than 10 million people cast their vote via phone, mail and through the World Wide Web as part of M&M’ largest promotion ever. After months of sampling the choices in specially marked bags, the world chose purple – with 41% of the vote. Aqua received 38% of the vote, and pink garnered 19% of the vote.
