Sadler is quiet until August/Rudd has options UPDATE Sadler to Yates, but different team?: Although Elliott Sadler has solidified his deal for next year—he signed a confidentiality clause that keeps him mum until August—almost everyone else is waiting to hear Ricky Rudd’s plans for 2003 before more moves are made. Rudd says his preferences, in order, are: remain in the #28 Ford, retire, go to a new team. Rudd says he doesn’t think staying with Robert Yates in the #28 is an option. Rudd says he has been offered several contracts, and Chip Ganassi’s name keeps popping up as a potential new boss.(Sporting News) UPDATE: Ricky Rudd said after his victory on Sunday that he still hasn’t made a decision about whether he’ll retire after this season. He said he plans to think about his future on a vacation with his family next week, where he’ll spend the final off weekend of the 2002 Winston Cup season. If he does return for another year, he said his first option would be to remain as driver of the No. 28 Fords at Robert Yates Racing – but he’s not sure if that option is open. This is the final year of his contract with Yates and Rudd said he hasn’t been able to get Yates to tell him for sure if Elliott Sadler has already been picked to take that ride.(ThatsRacin.com)(6-24-2002) UPDATE 2: WSLS Newschannel 10 say that Elliott Sadler has signed with Robert Yates Racing, but will drive a 3rd team and not the #28 Havoline Ford.
