RCR Crew Chief to own a NHRA team:

RCR Crew Chief to own a NHRA team: supposedly there is an announcement coming this weekend by Mark Whisnant that he is teaming up with NASCAR crew chief Kevin Hamlin to form a two-car Pro Stock team is already paying dividends as Whisnant powered to a fourth-best 6.890 at 200.38 mph. “We’ll take the engineering from over there and put it together with the engineering from over here and we can only get better,” said Hamlin, who was seven-time champion Dale Earnhardt’s crew chief at the time of his death and now heads Robbie Gordon’s [#31] car. “Already I can see a lot of things over here that I’d like to try. It’ll take time but it should be interesting and a whole lot of fun. I owe my career to drag racing and the fact the pits are open. I used to come to the drag races in the early 1970s and I’d just stand there and watch guys until they finally started talking to me. I wouldn’t be where I am today if fans weren’t allowed in the pits. I think it’s so cool.”(NHRA.com, heads up to The Racing Report)(6-29-2002)
