Mark Green is coming to Gateway International Raceway with a new paint scheme on his Great Clips #38 Ford and a new approach on how to drive the 1.25-mile egg-shaped oval. In a back-to-school promotion that will turn heads on and off the racetrack, Great Clips is introducing an action-packed computer racing game. Green’s Great Clips Ford will reflect the back-to-school promotion with a special paint scheme to introduce the Great Clips 500 CD-ROM racing game at St. Louis July 20th and at Pikes Peak, July 27th. The Great Clips 500 CD-ROM racing game will be given free to Great Clips customers who purchase a hair cut during the upcoming back-to-school period with timing varying from mid-July to Sept. depending upon the market. Green’s Great Clip’s teammate Christian Elder was involved in a wreck last Friday during qualifying at Chicago. Elder sustained a concussion, fractured right clavicle and a small laceration on his forehead in the wreck. As of Wednesday he is still sore, but feeling better and said, “I want to make it very clear to everyone that the stringent NASCAR rules as to car construction and the execution of those rules by my Great Clips Akins Motorsports crew played a large role in my not being much more seriously injured in the accident.”(PR), see my BGN Schemes page for an image.(7-18-2002)
