UPDATE: Steve Park will return to the BGN on a limited basis next season in a car owned by Winston Cup teammate Dale Earnhardt Jr. Earnhardt Jr. said Tuesday that Park will drive about five races next season in the Busch car, co-owned by Earnhardt Jr. and his stepmother Teresa. Earnhardt Jr. will drive in the three events on restrictor-plate tracks, while another driver will compete in about seven races. Earnhardt Jr. said he’d like to see the team go full-time for 2004. After that? “I don’t see that team becoming a Winston Cup team in the near future, but it’s a good possibility down the road,” said Earnhardt Jr., who has won twice in the car already. “It just depends. At this point, it’s just a start-up to bring drivers and crew chiefs and crew members in and work with them and move them up the company into the Winston Cup programs.”(Charleston Post and Courier)(10-2-2002)
