Brian Vickers will honor American Heroes of the Pentagon Renovation Project when he makes a special presentation at the Association of the United States Army Convention in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, October 22nd, 2002. The 18-year-old Thomasville, NC native will present a hood autographed by all of his NASCAR Winston Cup and Busch Series driving peers to Mr. Michael Sullivan, the new Program Manager of the Pentagon Renovation Program (Phoenix Project). The presentation will be made in remembrance and recognition of the sacrifice of those who lost their lives and the resilience shown by those who rebuilt the military icon, following the events of September 11, 2001. The Phoenix Project was most recently managed by Mr. Lee Evey who attended the Busch Series event in Richmond on September 6th, 2002, as a guest of BLV Motorsports as honorary crew chief of the Phoenix Project tribute in conjunction with the event. It is an honor to be invited by the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) to make this presentation to Mr. Sullivan and his Phoenix Project team at the convention, Vickers said. The AUSA has been incredibly gracious in supportive of this event, and the US Army, TACOM, and National Automotive Center, co-partners of our race team, have been a huge part of our success this year. Its a tremendous honor to be the spokesperson for the hundreds of family members in the NASCAR garage that have come together to show their support for the courageous men and women of the Phoenix Project and our Armed Forces as a whole, he added.(BLV Motorsports PR)(10-15-2002)
