More on the #7 Team: hearing Ray Evernham has been looking at ending the partnership with the #7 Ultra Motorsports team and owner Jim Smith, over the lack of competitiveness of the team. Also supposedly driver Casey Atwood was released, but Atwood’s reportedly contract states Smith has to pay him for the remainder of the year. Kevin Lepage came in and was fitted for a seat, met the team, etc. But when Atwood’s lawyer supposedly contacted Smith and told him to send a check, Atwood was put back in the car and until they reach an agreement, Atwood will drive because Smith won’t pay two drivers at the same time. They are apparently trying to work that out.(10-30-2002)
