#75-David Starr narrowly beat #20-Coy Gibbs on Friday to win the pole for Saturday’s American Racing Wheels 200 at California Speedway with a speed of 175.850mph, Gibbs ran 175.824. #8-Bill Lester will start 3rd at 175.627, #16-Mike Bliss grabbed the 4th spot at 175.571 and #18-Robert Pressley is 5th at 175.089. #4-Ryan Hemphill wrecked his truck in practice. A track spokesman said the 20-year-old driver was awake and alert before being transported to nearby Loma Linda University Medical Center for tests.(11-1-2002)
