#8-Dale Earnhardt Jr. won his third race of the 2003 Speedweeks at Daytona International Speedway, repeating his victory of a year ago in the BGN season opener. In the past week, Earnhardt Jr. has won the Budweiser Shootout and his Gatorade 125 qualifying race. He can complete a sweep of the week with a victory in Sunday’s Daytona 500, which would be his first in that event. No driver has ever won all four season-opening NASCAR events at Daytona. #17-Matt Kenseth was 2nd, followed be #21-Kevin Harvick, who led the first 53 laps of the race, #4-Mike Wallace, and #1-Jamie McMurray. #25-Bobby Hamilton Jr was highest placing BGN full-time regular at 7th. The race was slowed six times by caution for 24 laps. The were two lead changes among two drivers, with Earnhardt Jr. leading the most laps (67). #57-Jason Keller, who finished runner-up to series champion Greg Biffle last season, was involved in the Lap 119 incident and was taken to Halifax Medical Center. He was diagnosed with a possible concussion and was to get a precautionary CT scan.(ThatsRacin.com)
