#87-Joe Nemechek won the Sam’s Town 300 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Stopping for fuel only on his final pit stop, Nemechek charged to the front, survived a side-by-side battle with #92-Todd Bodine and finally held off #21-Kevin Harvick by 0.603 seconds to win. Harvick had taken four tires. It was Nemechek’s 15th career Busch series victory, but first at Las Vegas. He previously had finished in the top three at the track three consecutives times (1998, 1999 and 2000). #20-Mike Bliss finished a career-best third, #8-Steve Park fourth and #57-Jason Keller, who started at the rear of the field because of an engine change, rounded out the top five. Bodine appeared to have the race in hand when he took the lead after a side-by-side duel with #99-Michael Waltrip and rain halted the race after 140 of 200 laps. But the rain moved out of the area and the race restarted about an hour later. The race was slowed by caution seven times for 43 laps. There were 18 lead changes among seven drivers.(ThatsRacin.com)
