Evernham’s Return to Racing rained out:

Ray Evernham’s much-ballyhooed return to driving at Wall Township Speedway Saturday ended like most of New Jersey’s races this year with a driving rainstorm. But it wasn’t from lack of trying. Speedway officials waited out Saturday’s morning and afternoon rains, and track safety vehicles circled the third-of-a-mile asphalt oval during a brief respite in the rain from 4:30.-6:00/pm/et. But another shower that hit shortly after 6:00pm/et officially canceled the show that was to include a 15-lap match race featuring Hazlet native and NASCAR Winston Cup car owner Evernham. The race is not expected to be rescheduled. Ticket stubs from Saturday’s show are good for admission to any Wall race for the rest of 2003, with the exception of the June 29 NASCAR Modified Series race and the July 26 appearance of NASCAR Winston Cup drivers Michael Waltrip, Steve Park, Sterling Marlin and Kenny Wallace.( Newark Star Ledger )(6-2-2003)
