#1-Jeff Green got tagged in the rear by #5-Terry Labonte while the two were battling for seventh on the final restart on lap 198 of the 200-lap race. Labonte complained that Green was mirror-driving. Green, who spent nearly 20 minutes in the infield hospital, emerged without comment as he was wheeled off in a golf cart — his PR rep said he was too angry to say anything. Steve Hmiel, Green’s spotter, came out of the hospital after checking on Green and said that his driver had clearly had his bell rung. ‘He’s not blinking as much as I’d like him to be, so you can tell he took a pretty good lick. It was an awfully hard lick. They need to do something about that earthen wall. You could be all mad, but it was just two cars coming together, and it’s not like Terry Labonte doing anything intentional. Terry had a real good run on Jeff, and there are three laps to go, and I’m sure Terry had his foot to the floor and so did Jeff. And Terry just caught Jeff a little bit, just enough to pick him up and turn him around. But nobody wrecked anybody. Now Jeff got wrecked and I’m sure people will be upset about it. But knowing Terry Labonte, that’s not how he races. It was just two objects coming together at the same time.'( Winston Salen Journal )(6-9-2003)
